"The Simple Things"

by

Linda

Please make time to take a look at me
But not through the eyes of expectancy,
Look at me as just being your wife
One who only wishes the simple things in life

Simple things, such as a gentle touch
At an unexpected moment - when it means so much,
The soft sound of a voice that whispers in my ear
The everlasting words of power "I love you so, dear"

Simple things, like when your eyes catch mine
And the resistence of looking away is at a decline,
Words you speak like "honey this" and "honey that"
Which result in more than a husband-wifely chat

And - though I feel all my possessions are worthy treasures
It's the simple things that give me the most pleasure...
