God and Country

“It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.”
— Patrick Henry

“Of all the dispositions and habits, which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of Men and Citizens.”
— George Washington

“And let us with caution indulge the supposition, that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect, that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.”
— George Washington

“When you become entitled to exercise the right of voting for public officers, let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers, ‘just men who will rule in the fear of God.’ If the citizens neglect their Duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted… If [our] government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the Divine Commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the Laws.”
— Noah Webster

“Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is impossible that a nation of infidels or idolaters should be a nation of free men. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains.”
— Patrick Henry

My Thoughts
Half a century ago, America began to drift away from God as the foundation of our country. Today we can see the destruction of our country, our children and families because of this change. In the 60’s, Bible study and prayer were removed from the schools. As time went on, people lost respect for authority and the moral decay of our youth and country worsened. Without those moral values in our lives, our country has sense valued changes that are not of God and that go against the very essence of the Godly foundation our country was founded. That prayer in school may not have saved all our children from destruction, but it at least gave them something to think about other than what they see on the news and television today.
How about what our children see on that magic box sitting in your living room? Parents be careful what your children see on that screen. It is our responsibility as parents, and yes, grandparents to protect our children from this onslaught of media brainwashing. WAKE UP CHRISTIANS! WAKE UP PARENTS! You may not see it as such, but we are up against a spiritual war! On one side are those who accept Jesus as LORD and believe the truth of Scripture. On the other side are those who don’t. The unbelievers are using the schools, the media, the courts and the culture to try to pull your children away from God, away from Jesus and away from the Bible.
How did our country and the people within get in such a mess? Okay, here’s my theory. Our Founding Fathers who wrote the Constitution gave us certain rights. Through the years, the courts have taken these rights and completely turned them around from what our forefathers intended them to stand for. Slowly, our Constitutional rights have been stripped away to serve the purpose of wrongdoers in our country and because of this our whole country suffers. Our founding fathers knew that our country and the people within would survive if we had God as our foundation.
The Founders’ own declarations in their last wills and testaments speak loud and clear that the great majority of our Founders were indeed believers in Jesus Christ. For example: “First of all, I…rely upon the merits of Jesus Christ for a pardon of all my sins.” (Samuel Adams) “To my Creator I resign myself, humbly confding in His goodness and in His mercy through Jesus Christ…” (John Dickinson) “This is all the inheritance I can give to my dear family. The religion of Christ can give them one which will make them rich indeed.” (Patrick Henry) “I render sincere and humble thanks for His manifold and unmerited blessings, and especially for our redemption and salvation by his beloved Son.” (John Jay)
I may not have said everything I wanted to say appropriately but I am trying to take a stand for our country, for you, and our children. Some that read this may not like what I have written but well, huh, I have a right to believe the way I do, the same as you. Just know that if we do not put God back in this country, in our schools, in our lives, our country will not survive. We as Christians need to stand up for what is right. In each election, support candidates whose views echo Biblical principles. Remember that we are bound by the commandments of God. This means that we MAY NOT use violence in our struggle. We have no need of such tactics because we have something our enemies lack: the power of prayer.
America cannot survive as a idolatrous nation. We are one nation under GOD. I for one want my grandchildren to have the right to pray where they want to pray, confess Jesus as Saviour wherever they may be, join Christian clubs at their school if they see fit. TOGETHER WE CAN TAKE A STAND FOR GOD AND OUR CHILDREN! WE CAN TAKE AMERICA BACK! God Bless each and every one of you!
With Love & Hope, Brenda
